While cyber security previously focused only on individual hackers, recent trends show that attacks against government portals could come from organizations. Thus, we need to develop our cyber-related capabilities as we secure our channels of communication,” Gazmin stressed. He said the adoption of such measures is needed especially now that the Asia Pacific region continues to demonstrate economic resilience.

 At 4:10 pm on Saturday, May 11, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) acknowledged the DDoS attacks that rendered government websites inaccessible.

The websites of the following agencies were targeted:

Commission on Elections (Comelec)

Philippine News Agency (PNA)

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)

Department of National Defense (DND)

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)

Philippine National Police (PNP)

Philippine Army
